1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Nestegg website at nestegg.financial (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by Nestegg (“we,” “us,” or “our”), currently operating as an unincorporated entity based in British Columbia, Canada.

2. Service Description
2.1 Information Service Only

Nestegg provides a platform that aggregates and displays Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) rates from various Canadian financial institutions for informational and educational purposes only. We are:

  • NOT a financial institution, broker, dealer, or advisor
  • NOT licensed to provide financial advice or investment recommendations
  • NOT affiliated with or endorsed by any financial institution unless explicitly stated
  • NOT responsible for the products or services offered by financial institutions

THE INFORMATION PROVIDED ON THIS SERVICE IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE.

All content, including rate comparisons, articles, and tools, is for general informational purposes only. You should consult with qualified financial advisors before making any investment decisions.

3. Data Accuracy and Limitations
3.1 No Warranty of Accuracy

While we strive to provide accurate and current information:

  • Rate information is collected from publicly available sources
  • We make NO WARRANTIES OR REPRESENTATIONS regarding accuracy, completeness, or timeliness
  • Rates displayed may not reflect current offerings and are subject to change without notice
  • Financial institutions are solely responsible for the accuracy of their rates and terms
3.2 User Responsibility to Verify

YOU MUST INDEPENDENTLY VERIFY all rates, terms, conditions, and eligibility requirements directly with the financial institution before making any investment decision.

4. CDIC and Deposit Insurance
4.1 CDIC Coverage

Some GICs may be eligible for Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) protection:

  • Coverage is up to $100,000 per depositor per CDIC member institution
  • Coverage applies only to eligible deposits at CDIC member institutions
  • Provincial credit unions may have different deposit insurance through provincial corporations
4.2 Your Responsibility

You must verify deposit insurance coverage directly with the financial institution. We do not guarantee that any particular GIC or institution offers deposit insurance protection.

5. Eligibility and Restrictions
5.1 Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your province/territory to use this Service.

5.2 Geographic Availability
  • The Service is accessible internationally for viewing rates and information
  • GIC eligibility depends on financial institution requirements
  • Provincial credit unions typically require provincial residency
  • Federal banks may have different geographic requirements
5.3 Investment Eligibility

Your eligibility to purchase GICs depends on:

  • Residency status
  • Age of majority
  • Individual institution requirements
  • Regulatory restrictions

We do not determine or verify your eligibility for any financial product.

6.2 Affiliate Disclosure

If we receive compensation from financial institutions, we will clearly disclose such relationships. Currently, we do not receive any compensation from featured institutions.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the Service, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is our property or licensed to us and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

7.2 Permitted Use

INVESTING IN GICS AND OTHER FINANCIAL PRODUCTS INVOLVES RISK.

Past performance does not guarantee future results. You may lose money. We are not responsible for any investment losses.

10.3 Service Interruptions

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may modify or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.

11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
11.1 No Basis for Claims

As we merely display publicly available information and do not provide financial advice, handle transactions, or make recommendations, there is no basis for claims against us regarding investment decisions or outcomes.

11.2 Maximum Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED $100 CAD.

11.3 Excluded Damages

WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR:

  • Any investment losses or poor investment outcomes

  • Direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages

13. Modifications

We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting to the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and applicable Canadian federal laws. Any legal action related to the Service must be brought in the courts of British Columbia. However, as we merely provide publicly available information, we believe there is no basis for any claims or legal action against us.

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Nestegg regarding the Service.

16.2 Severability

By using the Service, you consent to receiving electronic communications from us when such features are implemented.

17.1 Not a Regulated Entity

We are not registered with:

  • Any provincial securities commission
  • The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC)
  • FINTRAC
  • Any financial regulatory body
17.2 User Compliance

You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws regarding your investments and use of financial services.

As we expand our Service, additional terms may apply to new features such as user accounts, newsletters, calculators, or other tools. Such additional terms will be presented when these features become available.

19. Acknowledgment

BY USING THIS SERVICE, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT:
